1. Getting Started
Follow these steps to set up CanoramIQ and start your first drive session.
- Get an OBD-II adapter: CanoramIQ works with any ELM327-compatible Bluetooth (Classic or BLE) adapter. Plug it into the OBD-II port located under your dashboard (usually beneath the steering column).
- Enable Bluetooth: On your phone, go to Settings → Bluetooth and make sure it is turned on. Keep the CanoramIQ app open — pairing happens in-app.
- Pair your adapter: Open CanoramIQ → Garage → Add Vehicle → Connect Adapter. The app will scan for nearby ELM327 devices and guide you through the connection.
- Grant permissions: CanoramIQ will request Bluetooth and Location permissions. Both are required for full functionality. Location is used only while the app is in the foreground during an active drive.
- Start a drive session: Tap the big record button on the Dashboard screen, start your engine, and CanoramIQ will begin streaming live telemetry from your vehicle's CAN bus.
Tip: For best results, wait until your engine is fully started before tapping Record. Some adapters take 2–3 seconds to initialise after the ignition is on.
2. Troubleshooting
If CanoramIQ isn't behaving as expected, try the steps below for your issue.
App cannot find my OBD adapter
- Confirm the adapter LED is lit (it powers on when the ignition is in the ON position or the engine is running).
- Go to your phone's Bluetooth settings and forget/unpair the adapter, then re-pair inside CanoramIQ.
- Some cheap adapters use non-standard AT command sets. Try toggling the Legacy ELM mode option in CanoramIQ → Settings → Adapter.
- Restart both the app and the adapter (remove and re-insert it) before retrying.
No data / all values read zero
- Ensure the engine is running, not just the ignition. Some PIDs are only broadcast above a minimum RPM threshold.
- Check that your vehicle supports OBD-II (all petrol/diesel cars sold in Europe from 2004 and the US from 1996 are compliant).
- Try selecting your vehicle profile manually in Garage → Vehicle → Edit if auto-detection failed.
GPS not tracking my route
- Make sure "Precise Location" is enabled for CanoramIQ in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
- Start the drive in an open area — GPS signal may take up to 30 seconds to acquire after launch.
App crashes or freezes
- Update to the latest version of CanoramIQ from the App Store or Google Play.
- Force-quit the app, restart your phone, and try again.
- If the crash is reproducible, please report it via the in-app feedback form (Settings → Send Feedback) so we can investigate with the attached crash log.
3. Frequently Asked Questions
Which OBD-II adapters are compatible?
Any ELM327-compatible adapter that connects over Bluetooth Classic or BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) will work. We recommend adapters based on the genuine ELM327 chip for the best reliability. Avoid clone adapters with firmware versions below 1.5 as they may not support all required AT commands.
Does CanoramIQ work on electric vehicles (EVs)?
Partial support is available. EVs expose a subset of OBD-II PIDs via their CAN bus, but many combustion-specific metrics (RPM, fuel trim, MAF) will naturally be absent. Battery state of charge, motor temperature, and regenerative braking events are readable on compatible EVs. Full EV profile support is on our roadmap.
Is my driving data uploaded to the cloud?
No. All vehicle telemetry — OBD data, GPS tracks, IMU readings, and computed KPIs — is stored locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded to external servers as part of core app functionality. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). To cancel, go to your device's subscription settings: iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → CanoramIQ → Cancel. Android: Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → CanoramIQ → Cancel.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by CanoramIQ directly. Contact Apple Support at reportaproblem.apple.com or Google Play support for refund requests.
How do I delete my account and data?
In-app: Settings → Account → "Delete all my data". For server-side data (beta waitlist email), email us at support@canoramiq.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request". See our Privacy Policy — Data Deletion section for full details.
