Privacy Policy
Overview
CanoramIQ ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the CanoramIQ mobile application (iOS and Android) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our vehicle diagnostics and telematics platform.
By installing or using CanoramIQ, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app and contact us to request deletion of any stored data.
This policy applies to the CanoramIQ mobile application and the website www.canoramiq.com. It does not apply to third-party services linked from our app or website.
1. Information Collection and Use
CanoramIQ collects data from two primary sources — your phone's sensors and your vehicle's OBD/CAN bus interface — solely to deliver the core functionality of the app.
Vehicle Telemetry (CAN / OBD-II data)
- What: Engine speed (RPM), vehicle speed, coolant temperature, throttle position, mass airflow, fuel trim, intake manifold pressure, battery voltage, fault codes (DTCs), and any other Parameter IDs (PIDs) broadcast by your vehicle's CAN bus.
- Why: To calculate performance KPIs (fuel economy, engine load, driver behavior score), detect anomalies using our Isolation Forest model, run neural-network-based diagnostics, and generate drive-cycle health reports.
- How: Streamed from an ELM327-compatible Bluetooth adapter plugged into your vehicle's OBD-II port.
Phone Sensor Data
- Location (GPS): Used to tag drive routes on the map, correlate telemetry with road segments, and enable geographic outlier analysis. Location access is requested only while the app is in use during an active drive session.
- Bluetooth: Required to discover and connect to your ELM327 OBD adapter. We read no other Bluetooth devices.
- Accelerometer / Gyroscope / Magnetometer (IMU): CanoramIQ uses the phone's full inertial measurement unit (IMU) for sensor fusion with OBD and GPS data. This enables KPIs such as braking intensity, cornering G-force, road surface quality, suspension health, and driver behaviour scoring. IMU data is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted to external servers.
Account and Contact Information (optional)
- If you create an account or join the beta waitlist, we collect your email address to send you app updates, release notes, and respond to support requests. We do not sell your email address.
2. Data Storage and Processing
All vehicle CAN/OBD telemetry is processed entirely on your device. Raw CAN bus signals, sensor readings, and GPS coordinates are stored in the app's private local database (sandboxed on your phone's internal storage) and are never transmitted to an external server for the purpose of analytics or KPI computation.
The Isolation Forest anomaly detection model and neural-network diagnostics run locally on your device's CPU/NPU. Your driving data does not leave your phone as part of these computations.
Crash Reports and Diagnostics
If the app crashes, a crash report containing anonymised stack traces and device metadata (OS version, device model, app version) may be sent to a crash-reporting service (see Third-Party Services below). These reports do not contain your vehicle data or location.
Cloud Backup (future feature)
If we introduce optional cloud backup of your drive history in a future release, we will request explicit opt-in consent before any data leaves your device, and this policy will be updated accordingly.
Data Retention
Locally stored drive sessions remain on your device until you delete them within the app or uninstall the application. Email addresses collected via the beta waitlist are retained until you request their deletion (see Section 4).
3. Third-Party Access
CanoramIQ may integrate the following third-party SDKs. Each service operates under its own privacy policy and may collect anonymised usage data or crash logs as described below.
Anonymised crash logs and stability metrics. No vehicle data included.
Aggregated, anonymised usage events (screens viewed, feature interactions). No PII or vehicle telemetry.
Subscription and in-app purchase management. Handles purchase receipts on behalf of Apple/Google.
Platform-level analytics and payment processing governed by Apple's and Google's own privacy policies.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data or vehicle telemetry with any third party for advertising or profiling purposes.
4. Data Deletion Policy
You have the right to request the deletion of your account and all associated data held by CanoramIQ at any time. Because vehicle telemetry is stored locally on your device, most data can be erased directly within the app without contacting us.
How to delete your data
- In-app deletion: Open CanoramIQ → Settings → Account → "Delete all my data". This permanently wipes all locally stored drive sessions, KPI history, and cached telemetry from your device.
- Uninstall the app: Uninstalling CanoramIQ removes all locally stored data from your device automatically.
- Request server-side deletion: If you joined the beta waitlist or have an account, email us at support@canoramiq.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and include the email address associated with your account. We will process your request and confirm deletion within 30 days.
You may also submit a data deletion request via the contact form at www.canoramiq.com/#cta. Please include "Data Deletion Request" in your message.
After deletion, anonymised, non-identifiable aggregate statistics derived from your data (e.g., fleet-level averages used to improve our anomaly models) may be retained, as they cannot be linked back to you.
5. Contact Information
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, wish to exercise your data rights, or need to report a privacy concern, please contact us:
We aim to respond to all privacy-related requests within 5 business days. Data deletion requests are processed within 30 days as required by applicable regulations.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via an in-app notification or an email to the address associated with your account. Continued use of the app after the effective date of the revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
